Trump Does The Tomahawk Chop At Game 4 Of The World Series

On Saturday, former President Donald Trump attended Game 4 of the World Series, appearing in a luxury suite at Truist Park alongside other political allies, including Trump-backed Senate candidate Herschel Walker.

Trump was filmed doing the “Tomahawk Chop” with a crowd of fans.

In an email statement to supporters announcing that he was looking forward to attending the “wonderful” game, Trump thanked MLB commissioner Rob Manfred along with New York Yankees team president Randy Levine for the invite.

Trump added that he and his wife, former First Lady Melania Trump, are both “looking forward to a wonderful evening watching two great teams.”
Braves chief executive Terry McGuirk told USA Today earlier in the week that Trump called the league to request tickets to attend Saturday’s game against the Houston Astros. “We were very surprised. Of course, we said yes,” the Atlanta CEO told the outlet’s sport section, adding: “We are apolitical. We’re open to anyone coming. It’s great that he wants to come to our game.”

McGuirk said that the 45th president was very much welcome at the ballpark; however, MLB officials refuted to Yahoo! Sports that the league had invited Trump, instead stating that the former president had requested to attend.
MLB disputed Trump’s characterization of events in a statement to Yahoo! Sports reporter Hannah Keyser, indicating that it was Trump’s request. MLB officials backed McGuirk’s accounting of Trump’s invitation in the USA Today report.

Speaking on “The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show,” a conservative talk radio program co-hosted by Outkick founder Clay Travis, Trump said Friday that he expected to be greeted with “a great reception” from the crowd after performing “tremendously” in Georgia during the 2020 presidential election.

Travis broke the news of Trump’s appearance on Twitter, noting on Wednesday night that the popular anti-Biden chant, “Let’s Go Brandon,” might be “raining down like crazy.” Travis quipped, “Get your popcorn,” to the revelation that Manfred and Trump would be in the same stadium.

Manfred was at the center of controversy when he moved the 2021 All-Star Game out of Georgia over alleged discriminatory voter laws. Prior to Game 1 of the World Series on Tuesday, he defended the Braves’ signature fan celebration known as the “Tomahawk Chop,” which has been called insensitive by Native American groups.

Saturday’s apperance wasn’t Trump’s first visit to Atlanta for a championship sporting event. The former commander-in-chief attended the college football title game between Georgia and Alabama at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2018. Trump was greeted with a chorus of cheers as he left just before halftime.
